Barbarians is a collective of small, new wave, independent wine families based in the Uco Valley, Mendoza. Each has their own strong identity but the group share similar philosophies, working with natural and sustainable viticultural and winemaking philosophies.
The group was created by the Michelini brothers who founded Zorzal in their home of Tupungato before beginning their own personal projects. The Michelini’s also work together on the SuperUco wines, sourced from three different bio-dynamic vineyards in the Uco Valley and made in a very traditional European mould.
Via wines and Esperando are made by Matias Michelini, the most high profile of the Michelini brothers, the first to really start pushing the boundaries of Argentinian wine. Matias was one of the first high profile winemakers, making non-fruit driven wines (Esperando) and orange wines (Via).
Ji Ji Ji and Superlogico wines are by Geraldo Michelini, his fun, non-extractive wines are a counter point to most Argentinian wines.
Geraldo, buys fruit from old growers surrounding his winery in a chestnut grove in Gualtallary.
Ver Sacrum is a welcome, new comer to the scene in Mendoza. Owned by Eduardo Soler, growing Rhône varietals on their own vineyards, on stock they sourced from Europe. Non extractive, no corrections, filtration or pump overs.

Torrontés is a white wine grape variety that is primarily grown in Argentina, It's also found in some extent in Chile. The grape produces wines that are typically light-bodied with high acidity, which gives them a refreshing character. They are known for their floral, fruity aromas and flavors, including notes of peach, apricot, and white flowers, as well as a characteristic minerality and a hint of spice.
Torrontés is considered to be a very aromatic grape variety, which makes it a popular choice for making white wines that are easy to drink and can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with lighter dishes such as seafood, sushi, or spicy Asian cuisine.
